Swale & Wren

Independent game studio

Quiet games from the low places.

A swale is the damp hollow between two dune ridges, where wind drops what it carries and small things start to grow. We make games the same way: slowly, close to the ground, with weather in them.

Scrum-Ban-Fall

The chaotic card game about the plan changing.

You are a department: Engineering, The Business or Product. Over a sprint, each of you plays cards that move your own goal forward and, by sheer accident, wreck the other two. Every morning a Priority decides whose work is worth anything. By lunch it has pivoted.

On Demo Day each department either met its own goal or didn't. Anyone can win. Several can. The usual result is that no one wins.

Studio

Slow, close to the ground

Swale & Wren is a small independent studio. We like games with a point of view, a sense of humor that is original and a little bit mean, and rules that fit on one page and then surprise you for forty hours.

Everything we ship is playable in a browser, with no install and no account needed to start. We would rather you were in a game within ten seconds than reading about it for ten minutes.

  • Small things grow

We make modest games and let them get deep. The hollow collects what the wind drops.

  • Funny on purpose

Satire with a real target, never a copied one. If a joke can be explained to a lawyer, we cut it.

  • Clear rules

If you are confused, that is our bug. Every card says what it does, in numbers.
